The Florida Police Benevolent Association’s chapter in Tallahassee will not endorse any commissioner currently in office.
Instead, in the seat 2 race, the PBA endorsed Curtis Richardson. In seat 3, Steve Stewart gets the endorsement. He’s running against current incumbent Nancy Miller.
The PBA does a number of things including providing legal counsel for police officers as well as lobbying funds for the Tallahassee Police Department.
Both candidates that got the endorsements say it’s huge for their campaigns.
“Public safety is obviously a huge issue in this campaign,” said Stewart. “The fact that they’re endorsing me over an incumbent city commissioner is very important.”
“They feel that I will be willing to work with them as a commissioner to make sure that they have the resources that they need in order to be a major component,” said Richardson.
The PBA hasn’t endorsed a candidate for the mayoral race yet, however, the president of the chapter says an announcement could be made in the upcoming weeks.
