A teaching assistant with Valdosta City Schools is behind bars after investigators discovered a meth lab at her house.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested 49-year-old Beverly Strong Wednesday evening after receiving several complaints from neighbors.
Inside the home, investigators found methamphetamine and components used to make the drug.
Strong has been placed on administrative leave without pay from Valdosta City Schools.
A decision regarding her employment status will be made during the next school board meeting on June 9, 2014.

On Wednesday evening, investigators from the Sheriff’s Office went to 601 Georgia Avenue after receiving citizen complaints and met with the resident, Beverly Strong. Investigators conducted a search of the residence and located a quantity of Methamphetamine and the ingredients and components used for manufacturing Methamphetamine. The lab components were dismantled and removed from the residence by investigators.
Beverly Strong was taken to the Lowndes County Jail and booked on the listed charges. She will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court this afternoon for an arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered.
