President Obama: Declassify the CIA torture report

gay family photo

Last week, evidence emerged that the CIA was spying on the Senate Intelligence Committee—the very committee charged with keeping it in check—while the Committee’s staff were investigating the agency’s extensive and illegal use of torture in the years following September 11th.

The Intel committee’s torture report could blow the lid on the vast extent of CIA brutality.

The problem is, the report is classified and hasn’t yet seen the light of day. President Obama has said he wants it made public. So we need to hold him to his word.

Sign the petition now asking President Obama to immediately declassify the CIA torture report when it hits his desk—and not send it back to the CIA for its “review.”

The ACLU will continue fighting to right the many wrongs the CIA’s pervasive use of torture has caused, but full transparency is the critical first step. We all have the right to know what our country did in our names.
