Scott and members of the Florida Cabinet are countersuing attorney Steven Andrews, who filed a suit against the governor in 2012 in an effort to keep the state from buying land near the governor’s mansion where his office is located. The AP reports:

The governor and the three other state officials who oversee state lands filed a counterclaim lawsuit last Friday against Tallahassee attorney Steven Andrews.Andrews is challenging a decision by Scott and the Cabinet to purchase land near the governor’s mansion that is the location of his current law office.

Andrews has hurled insults at Scott in the past, suggesting in a 2010 lawsuit that the governor could be considered “a public hazard.” Scott fired back at those accusations, calling Andrew’s efforts “bogus” and “sleazy.”

Scott was also tied up in controversy with Andrews in December 2012, when Scott’s political committee sent some residents Christmas-themed mailers. Andrews said his wife received one of the mailers, which the attorney called “a typical intimidation tactic.”
