Judge sentences former court employee accused of stealing thousands of dollars

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – A former Leon County Clerk of Court employee has been sentenced to jail for embezzling thousands of dollars.
According to the Leon County Clerk of Court’s office, a Leon County judge sentenced Daphne Pinedo-Ramos Monday to 30 days in county jail, with 20 days served credit. Pinedo-Ramos was also sentenced to 5 years probation, given costs and fines to be paid, and 60 days in the Sheriff’s Work Camp.
Pinedo-Ramos was arrested in May of 2012 and charged with 43 counts of Fraud. As an employee of the Leon County Clerk of Court’s office, Pinedo-Ramos was charged with accepting traffic fines and then keeping the cash. Investigators say Pinedo-Ramos embezzled a total of $8,512 from the office.
