The incumbent has been in leadership at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office for 31 years, and things have become stagnant.  In fact, Larry Campbell has retired, collected DROP and is now collecting his second salary and retirement off the backs of Leon County citizens.  I am the only candidate in this race who has achieved a graduate level degree.  I have the credentials and experience and know what it takes to run this agency.  The incumbent’s experience has landed us the title of the the eighth-most-dangerous city in the United States, a three-year increasing crime trend, and the third-highest traffic fatality and accident rate in our state category.  As sheriff, I promise to bring a culture of teamwork that will improve law enforcement in Leon County and to provide equal and fair law enforcement.  I promise to bring the Leon County Sheriffs Office into the 21st century by employing proven crime-fighting programs and initiatives with a focus on leveraging technology, data-mining/analytics/GIS mapping and predictive modeling.  I promise to end duplication of services, as we do not need two of everything.  My vision for LCSO is completely different from the incumbent’s.  Sixteen years of failed policies in the Leon County Sheriff’s Office is enough.  I believe in cooperative relationships, fair and equal law enforcement.  We must remain committed to the vigorous task of fighting crime, restoring safe neighborhoods and implementing best practices.  Transparency and accountability are important to the taxpayers of Leon County.  I will emphasize increased community involvement, and a reduction of duplication of programs and services, all of which are necessary in reducing costs to taxpayers.I have the vision and strategic plan for a modern, team-oriented LCSO.
