The candidates for Tallahassee City Commission Seat 1, former Mayor Scott Maddox and businessman Steve Stewart, gave some specifics Tuesday on how they would try to create jobs and what their other priorities would be if elected in November. After a bruising primary marked by attacks from both campaigns, the two candidates also answered questions about why the voters should trust either one of them. Their comments came during a meeting before the Tallahassee Democrateditorial board.Maddox, who served on the City Commission for 10 years before mounting several bids for statewide office, said his life has been an open book for the past 20-plus years.“I got elected when I was 24 years old,” he said. “So I’ve disclosed under every different form of disclosure that you can do in the state and city one. We’ve had everybody poke around my record. Our family has learned to grow up in a fishbowl, so what you see about me is what you get.”
Stewart, who ran for mayor two years ago, said voters should examine where the candidates stand on the issues.
