Members,
It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the death of Capitol Police Sergeant Glenn Edrington. He was off duty yesterday, riding his motorcycle, and was involved in a fatal collision.
Glenn started his Capitol Police career in 1988 as a security officer. He was one of the first members of the Capitol Police Bike Squad when he was promoted to law enforcement officer in 1996. In 1999, he was promoted again to law enforcement investigator II and was responsible for Capitol Police hiring and criminal investigations. He transitioned to law enforcement sergeant in 2005, overseeing the bike squad and security at the Southwood Capital Circle office complex. Glenn also oversaw the Reserve Law Enforcement Officer program.
He was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. During his 29 years of military service, he was a reservist with numerous active duty tours, the last one in Iraq. Glenn was a realtor and member of the motorcycle club, Tallahassee HOG. A resident of Crawfordville, he graduated from Florida State University in 1993 with a B.S. in criminology.
Glenn’s co-workers say he was the kind of person who would “give you the shirt off his back” and was always there for his friends in times of need.
Keep Glenn’s family in your prayers. He leaves behind a wife, Diane, three sons: Matt Ray, Cameron Ray and Brennan Ray, his father John and sisters Vickie Edrington and Edith Taylor.
Moments like this cause us to reflect on our own lives. Law enforcement jobs are always demanding. Take time today to support and appreciate your family and fellow FDLE members.
Jerry

Glenn was a great guy. I knew him before he worked for the Capitol Police. He was always helpful and happy. He will be missed.
