RE: Tallahassee Democrat Sheriff’s Race editorial board interviews
.
I saw the video of the sheriff’s race editorial board interview. I was troubled by some of Campbell’s responses.
.
First, he blamed the public’s Internet comments for Gary Michael Hilton getting away. I could not believe what I was hearing. I took it as Mr. Gabordi being stunned by this also as he asked if the sheriff was saying that Gary Hilton was sitting in the woods in his van on his computer monitoring Internet comments.
.
For one thing I don’t remember it being reported that Gary Hilton had a computer and the second thing is when do the woods have Wi-Fi? I just could not believe what I was hearing.
.
The second thing was that the sheriff said the crime reports were wrong where it named Leon County’s crime rate up and the rest of the state’s rate down. Again, he places blame elsewhere and refuses to take responsibility.
.
Then he said the reason the crime rate being up is because his deputies are working harder. How can that be true when DUI arrests are so drastically down?

.
He lost funding for the DUI programs yet he brags about giving back $9 million of his budget. Why is he giving money back to the county and to charities yet ignoring and failing to fund and implement making DUI arrests? This is really gross mismanagement on so many levels.

.
These were just some gross misleading and ignoble statements I noticed in this interview by the sheriff.
