TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida is spending millions to provide security to Gov. Rick Scott, as well as for governors from other states who visit.

An annual report released Monday shows that the state spent $2.48 million on security for the governor and to provide security for visits by other politicians, such as Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The report also shows that the state paid to provide security for visits by First Lady Michelle Obama and for Attorney General Pam Bondi when she attended oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court.

The amount spent is the highest it has been during the seven years the state has been tracking the expenses.

The report says that nearly $2.2 million was spent on security for the governor, First Lady Ann Scott and the governor’s mansion.
