Midway firefighters arrested for sexual assault on minor

MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) – Deputies with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department for allegedly performing lewd and lascivious acts on a minor.

GCSO Deputies say Charles Owens, 40, was arrested for reportedly soliciting a 14-year-old minor to engage in sexual acts. We’re told the minor was a member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Fighter Explorer Program.

Deputies tell us a warrant has also been issued for the arrest of Jennifer Bay, 37, for allegedly taking part in the incident with Owens.

The situation was brought to deputies’ attention by the victim’s family.

Deputies say a search of Owens’ home turned up a camera with several pictures of the teen.

According to the arrest affidavit, the couple performed lewd acts upon the child at least five times and Owens continued an ongoing sexual relationship with the minor.

Owens has been charged with 25 counts of sexual assault on a juvenile as well as 25 counts of possession of pornography.

We’re told Bay has also been charged. She faces five counts of sexual assault on a juvenile.

Both are being held at the Gadsden County Jail.
