Former Statewide Prosecutor Pete Williams Earns Major Law Enforcement Endorsement
Tallahassee –Today, former Statewide Prosecutor Pete Williams received the endorsement from the state’s largest law enforcement association.
The Florida Police Benevolent Association, which represents law enforcement officers within the City of Tallahassee, Florida A&M University, Florida State University, Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, and the Quincy Police Department agree that after 28 years – it is time for change.
Steve Slade, President of the Big Bend PBA says, “Pete Williams is the right person for the job as our next State Attorney. During his distinguished career as a prosecutor, Pete has proven that he can be fair and equal while still protecting our citizens and the integrity of our criminal justice system. Now more than ever, we need Pete Williams as our State Attorney.”
One of Pete Williams’ priorities as State Attorney is supporting and partnering with law enforcement in order to achieve a more efficient use of prosecutorial resources to help bring down Tallahassee’s growing crime rate.
“I am humbled and honored that law enforcement professionals from the Police Benevolent Association have shown confidence in me as their next State Attorney. I value the work they do in protecting our community each day,” said Williams.
About Pete:
Through his 20-year career in state government and public service, Williams has served in a number of positions fighting violent crimes, fraud, and public corruption. His assignments have included 4 years as Florida’s Statewide Prosecutor, Senior Attorney General for Antitrust and Economic Crimes, Assistant State Attorney and Special Prosecutor for Traffic Homicides, Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, and Inspector General for the Agency for Health Care Administration and the Department of Education. As Statewide Prosecutor, Williams supervised an office of 42 assistant prosecutors located in 8 offices across Florida, and targeted organized criminal activity and public corruption.
Pete Williams is married with 4 children and enjoys coaching youth sports.
